The Antares Project is the next version up from digestIT 2004. It is distributed in three editions: Lite, Standard, and Professional. A version of each edition is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms.
What is it?
The Antares Project is a data integrity tool designed from the ground up to be fast and easy to use. It is a next-generation application from digestIT 2004, keeping much of the same functionality, but putting a new face on it, correcting some known issues, and making it much, much more user friendly.
Those who have used digestIT 2004 I'm sure will notice the big difference.
System Requirements
Requires Windows 2000, Windows XP or higher. This will not install on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME or Windows NT.

Beta testing Beta testing is currently under way for the Lite Edition of the Antares Project. Please read the details to find out how to sign up if you'd like to join in. |
Lite Edition - Screenshots
- Create and verify hash signatures without having to launch another utility - Simply right-click on a file and select the appropriate menu option, and it does the rest. No more searching for desktop icons or Start menu program groups.
- MD5 and SHA-1 support
- Rewritten, optimized libraries - Much of the algorithm library is rewritten from the ground up to make it as fast as possible. If an algorithm has not been optimized, it's on the list to be optimized.
- Polished user-interface - No longer is this "just another utility", the Antares Project was designed to stand out from the rest, and the look of the application does just that.
Standard Edition - Screenshots
And the Standard Edition takes that functionality further, adding more features than you could possibly expect in this simple tool.
- Process an entire drive, or multiple drives - Process entire or multiple drives at once as if they were folders
- Verify multiple files - Enter hashes and verify multiple files at once. Requires you to enter all checksums up front.
- Verify against an output file - Load a previous output from the Antares Project or any supported output format and verify the listed files.
Compare multiple files - Many users have used my tool to get an overall comparison of several files. I've used it for that purpose as well. Now it will do this automatically.
Just highlight the files you want to compare, right-click and select the appropriate menu option, and go. It does the rest. No more having to eye-ball hash signatures. You just know.
- Locate duplicate files - Find duplicate files within or between folders. Just highlight the folder(s) you want to search, right-click, and go. It will list out all duplicate files for you and give you several options of what to do.
- Multiple hashes at once - You will now have the ability to compute multiple hashes at once on files. Get an MD5 and SHA-1 at the same time, all algorithms at once, or any combination of what's available.
- Full FIPS 180-2 support - With the use of MD5 and SHA-1 becoming more discouraged every day, alternatives are needed. Thankfully there are better options to SHA-1, and they are SHA-224, SHA-256, SHA-384, and SHA-512.
- More algorithms still
- Plus there is support for:
- Tiger and Tiger2 - 192, 168, and 128 bits
- RIPEMD - 128, 160, 256, and 320 bits
- Whirlpool
- Turn off algorithms you don't use - Don't see yourself using all that is available? Simply turn them off. You can configure which algorithms will be available for creating and directly verifying checksums. All will still be available, though, when you choose to verify from a manifest of files.
- Top Secret Feature - There is one more feature that will be included in the Standard Edition that will not be revealed here until final release.
